West Kelowna RCMP arrest male following foot pursuit
On October 22, at approximately 11:20 a.m., members of the West Kelowna RCMP Traffic Unit requested assistance after a man fled from a traffic stop near Old Ferry Wharf Road and Westside Road in West Kelowna.
Frontline officers responded, established containment in the area, and requested Police Dog Services. During the search, a witness reported that a man matching the suspect's description had entered an apartment building in the 1500-block of High Street.
A short time later, officers observed the suspect running near the apartment complex. With assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services and Police Service Dog (PSD) Mysan, the suspect was located and arrested without incident.
The suspect was arrested for flight from police and was found to have outstanding warrants. He was subsequently transported for further processing.
"The successful apprehension of the suspect was the result of the coordinated efforts of frontline officers, RCMP Police Dog Services, and a helpful witness," said Cst. Ash Puri, Media Relations Officer for the West Kelowna RCMP. "Their combined efforts contributed to the safe resolution of this incident."
