The Liberal Party of Canada are projected to win a fourth consecutive term, with Mark Carney expected to form a Liberal government with 169 seats, three short of the majority threshold. The Liberal victory is amidst a notable increase in Conservative Party of Canada seats nation wide.

The Liberals did well in Surrey, with incumbents Randeep Sarai, pictured above, and Sukh Dhaliwal retaining their seats in Surrey Centre and Surrey Newton. Gurbux Saini and Jill McKnight succeeded outgoing Liberals MPs in Fleetwood-Port Kells and Delta. And in a big upset, Liberal Ernie Klassen won South Surrey-White Rock. The shift towards the center-left in Surrey and the surrounding regions may be indicative of their reliance on the U.S. for their local economies and their belief that Mark Carney is best qualified to handle the Trump administration’s tariffs.

Conservatives did retain Langley Township-Fraser Heights under Tako Van Popta and Cloverdale-Langley City under Tamara Jensen.
