VPD reports that a number of people have been killed and multiple others have been injured in a mass casualty incident after a driver drove into a crowd at approximately 8:14 p.m. tonight at the Lapu Lapu Day Block Party hosted by members of Vancouver’s Filipino community at E. 43rd Avenue and Fraser. The 30-year old suspect has been arrested and is in police custody.

Politicians such as Vancouver’s Mayor Ken Sim, B.C. Premier David Eby, Prime Minister Mark Carney and HM’s Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre have expressed their condolences on social media.

The investigation is ongoing and VPD states they will provide more information as the investigation unfolds.
