Additional Charge Approved in Attempted Abduction Investigation in Surrey

A man previously arrested and charged in an attempted abduction of a child investigation in June 2026, has now been charged with an additional Criminal Code offence following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) ongoing investigation.

On June 13, 2026, Liam Robert Dobbs-Morency, a 22-year-old-male, was arrested by SPS members.  On June 14, he was charged with one count of abduction of a person under 14 years of age, and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Shortly after his arrest, SPS’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) officers commenced an investigation into reports of the suspect possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials (CSAEM).

On October 19, 2026, Liam Robert Dobbs-Morency was charged with one count of possession of CSAEM.

Liam Robert Morency-Dobbs has been in custody since his arrest on June 13, 2026, and has since been detained by the court.
