New Delhi: China has warned US officials not to interfere in its relations with India. The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defense, gave this information in a report presented to Congress.

Chinese officials tried to downplay the seriousness of the crisis amid their confrontation with India along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Pentagon said in a report presented on Tuesday, stressing that Beijing intended to maintain stability along the border and China wanted to avoid tensions that harm other areas of its bilateral relations with India.

In its recent report to the Congress on China’s military build-up capability, the Pentagon said, “The Republic of China (PRC) wants to reduce tensions so that India does not get any closer to the US. PRC officials have warned US officials not to interfere in PRC’s relations with India.”

During 2021, the PLA maintained the deployment of military forces in a section on the China-India border and continued to build infrastructure along the LAC, the Pentagon said. “There was minimal progress in the talks between the two countries (China-India) as both sides oppose the alleged disengagement of their respective locations on the border,” the report said.

“Both countries have been demanding withdrawal of other military forces and this has led to a confrontation-like situation. But neither China nor India agrees to these terms,” it said.
