Washington: Former US President Donald Trump was found guilty on Tuesday by a jury for sexually assaulting a magazine writer E Jean Carroll in a New York department store changing room 27 years ago.

A nine-member jury in New York found Trump guilty of battery assault, sexual abuse and defamation. After this, Trump will give $ 5 million as compensation to Carroll. The New York Federal Court gave this decision late Tuesday night after a hearing.

The jury rejected Caroll’s claims that she was raped, but the jury found that She was sexually abused by Trump. Trump did not attend the hearing, but he insisted that he did not sexually abuse Caroll and that he did not even know her.

Caroll, 79, said she encountered Trump at the Bergdorf Goodman store on the other side of Trump Tower one evening in spring 1996. Both of them were joking about a piece of lingerie when Trump suddenly turned violent and raped her in the dressing room.
