Police in Surrey say a café in the city’s Newton neighbourhood has been targeted in a second shooting in less than a month.
The business, located in the 8400 block of 120 Street, was struck by gunfire early Wednesday morning. Police say no injuries were reported, but the building sustained damage.
In a statement, Surrey Police Service (SPS) said officers responded around 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 7 to a report of shots fired outside the business. Multiple SPS and Delta Police Department units were dispatched to the scene.
“While it appears multiple shots caused damage to the windows and building, fortunately the staff on premises were uninjured,” the SPS said in a statement.
The same business was previously targeted on July 10, when an unidentified suspect also filmed the shooting, according to police.
The SPS Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team has assumed conduct of the investigation.
Police have not confirmed a motive and say no one has claimed responsibility for the shootings.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 25-66351, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
Indian media reports have linked the business to well-known comedian Kapil Sharma, though ownership has not been independently confirmed by police.
