For the third time since July, shots were fired at Kap’s Café at the 8400 block of 120th Street and 84th Avenue in Surrey. The incident took place at 3:45 a.m. on Thursday morning. Staff were present in the building but SPS has reported no injuries. The business is owned by Bollywood personality Kapil Sharma.

SPS spokesperson Ian MacDonald has implied that the shootings are likely related to extortion. Macdonald also stated that SPS is aware of self-proclaimed members of the Bishnoi gang taking responsibility for the attacks. The Bishnoi gang are registered as terrorist group in Canada and are alleged to have ties to Indian intelligence agencies.

Extortion related violence has become a new normal in the city as residents and local representatives urge the federal government to do more to tackle the expanding issue.

Anyone with information on the incident or suspect can call SPS at 604-599-0502 or the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 236-485-5149.
