Air Canada has cancelled all of its mainline flights to and from Vancouver International Airport today as a strike by flight attendants continues.
In a statement posted on the airport’s website, YVR said the airline has advised that a restart of operations would not happen on Sunday.
“Air Canada is advising that the restart of mainline flight operations will not resume today. As such, all Air Canada mainline flights to and from YVR today will be cancelled,” the statement said.
Travellers are being urged not to come to the airport unless they have a confirmed itinerary.
“Air Canada passengers should not come to YVR unless they have a confirmed itinerary. Please check your flight status at aircanada.com before coming to the airport,” the statement said.
The airport said the strike has had no impact on overall operations. Flights operated by Air Canada Jazz and Air Canada Express remain unaffected, and other airlines continue to operate normally.
Travellers heading to the airport today should also be aware of a rally by striking Air Canada flight attendants taking place outside the terminal.
YVR said additional staff have been deployed to help passengers and maintain traffic flow.
“To help avoid any potential delays, we recommend people give themselves extra time to get to the airport,” the statement said.
