Air Canada will not resume mainline flight operations today due to an ongoing strike by its flight attendants, according to a statement posted on the Vancouver International Airport website.
“All Air Canada mainline flights to and from YVR today will be cancelled,” the statement said.
The airport advised passengers not to come to YVR unless they have a confirmed itinerary, and to check flight status at aircanada.com before arriving at the terminal.
The statement noted there is no impact to overall airport operations. Flights operated by Air Canada Jazz and Air Canada Express are unaffected, and passengers flying with other airlines are not impacted.
Travellers should also be aware of a rally by Air Canada flight attendants currently taking place outside the terminal.
“We have extra staff on site to assist passengers and help maintain the flow of traffic,” the airport said. “To help avoid any potential delays, we recommend people give themselves extra time to get to the airport.”
YVR said it has increased staffing in the terminal to assist passengers and continues to post updates at yvr.ca.
