Qatari authorities have arrested BC fugitive Rabih ‘Robby’ Alkhalil.

Robby is the youngest of the five Alkhalil brothers, a Palestinian family who settled in Surrey in the 1990s. His brothers Khalil and Mahmoud were both killed in gang disputes in Metro Vancouver in 2001 and 2003 respectively. His brother Nabil was killed in a dispute with a businessman in Central Mexico in 2018. His brother Hisham is still in Canada, although many of his activities have been disrupted by law enforcement.

The brothers were key members of the international criminal syndicate known as the Wolfpack Alliance, which also included the Bacon Brothers, Independent Soldiers, Hells Angels MC, and the Red Scorpions.

In 2017, Robby, along with 3 co-conspirators, were convicted of first-degree murder for the 2012 killing of drug dealer John Raposo in Toronto. In 2021, Robby and long time ally Larry Amero were on trial for the 2012 murders of rival gangsters Sandip Duhre and Suhhveer Dhak. In July 2022, Alkhalil escaped from the North Fraser Pretrial Center jail in Port Coquitlam.

The escape was considered well planned, and the RCMP were criticized for the handling of security in the jail, the subsequent manhunt, and the investigation into the escape. In August, 2022, Robby was convicted in absentia of one count of first-degree murder for the killing of Duhre and another count of conspiracy to commit murder for the killing of Dhak. In October of 2022, RCMP declared Robby to be Canada’s most wanted man, moving him to the top of the Bolo (‘be on the lookout’) Program and offering a $250,000 reward for information about his current whereabouts.

RCMP are set to hold a press conference on Monday afternoon.
