Richmond RCMP lays charges against man for sexual exploitation

A charge has been laid against a North Vancouver man following a Richmond RCMP  investigation into allegations of historical sexual exploitation involving a youth.

In September 2024, Richmond RCMP  received a report regarding alleged offences that occurred between 2004 and 2008. Investigators conducted a comprehensive investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Zahid Hassandeen Zade Nanji (53) has been charged with sexual Exploitation, contrary to section 153(1) of the Criminal Code. Sexual Assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code.

The charges relate to allegations that occurred when the complainant was a youth and the accused was in a position of trust or authority.

"Reporting incidents of sexual abuse can be extremely difficult, particularly when the events occurred many years ago," said Corporal Bryson, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer. "We recognize the courage it takes for victims to come forward and encourage anyone who may have information related to this investigation, or who believes they may have experienced a similar incident, to contact police."

A publication ban has been ordered regarding the identity of the complainant.

The matter is now before the courts. As the charges have not been proven in court, no further details will be provided.
