Lake Country RCMP officers seized one kilogram of methamphetamine and more than 140 grams of suspected Dilaudid and Xanax pills following a traffic stop on Highway 97 near Oceolla Road.

 While on patrol in Lake Country, an officer conducted a routine traffic stop. During the interaction, the officer observed suspected drugs inside the vehicle and arrested the driver and two passengers for possession of a controlled substance.  A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine and several hundred pills, packaged in multiple bags, believed to be Xanax and Dilaudid. The quantity and packaging of the drugs are consistent with drug trafficking activity. The vehicle and drugs were seized as part of the ongoing investigation. The four occupants were released at the roadside pending further investigation and may be compelled to attend court at a later date.

 “This is an excellent example of the proactive work being done by police in Lake Country to stem the flow of illicit and toxic drugs into our community,” said Staff Sgt. Jon Collins, detachment commander of the Lake Country RCMP. “There is no such thing as a ‘bad batch’ of synthetic drugs because there is no good batch. Every pill or hit represents a potentially serious health risk, whether in the short term or the long term.”
