Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre Meets With Reza Pahlavi
On August 19, Opposition Leader and Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre, met with Reza Pahlavi.
Poilievre communicated the tremendous support he saw from Canada’s Persian community in Vancouver and their hope for freedom and democratic change in Iran.
Pahlavi expressed strong appreciation for Canadian community support and the Conservatives’ position on Iran.
They discussed the importance of sustained international pressure on the Islamic Republic, maintaining internet access for Iranians, using frozen Iranian regime assets to support opposition efforts and ensuring that Iranians themselves determine the future of their country through free elections and a democratic constitutional process.
Poilievre reiterated Conservative support for comprehensive sanctions, seizure of Iranian regime assets and expulsion of IRGC agents from Canada, protecting Persian and Jewish communities in Canada from threats and intimidation, and maintaining the Conservative policy of no formal diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic.
Poilievre also invited Pahlavi to visit Canada and look forward to continuing discussions about how Canada can support the Iranian people in reclaiming their country and securing a free and democratic future.
