Sooke RCMP investigating multiple break and enters

On August 27 and August 28, the Sooke RCMP responded to three break and enters that occurred in between the 6600 hundred and 6800 block of Sooke Road. On August 27 at 11:00 pm, police responded to an attempted break and enter that occurred to a business in the 6600 block of Sooke Road. There were no reported items that were taken however damage was done to the front door by the suspect.

On August 28 at 2:00 am, police responded to a break and enter at a residence in the 6800 block of Sooke Road where a PlayStation gaming console and a purse were stolen. At 7:00 am police, responded to a third break and enter at a residence in the 6700 block of Sooke Road. The suspect is believed to have gained access to the residence and stole approximately $1,500 worth of items before fleeing the scene.

The Sooke RCMP are reminding residences to lock their doors and secure their properties to prevent crimes of opportunity. "Close and lock all your windows and doors each time you leave your house and before you go to sleep" said S/Sgt. Greg Willcocks. " We have seen unfortunate incidences where these suspects have gained entry into a house simply because the door was unlocked. Thieves will often seek a criminal path of least resistance and if they locate an unsecured house or business, they will target that one over a locked house."
