On September 22,  at approximately 4:00 a.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 97 near Campbell Road in West Kelowna.

The preliminary investigation indicates an eastbound Toyota collided with a westbound Jeep. Emergency responders attended the scene and located four occupants involved in the crash. Two individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants were transported to Kelowna General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision; however, the investigation remains ongoing. The BC Coroners Service has been engaged and is working in partnership with the RCMP to advance the investigation.

 BC Highway Patrol is seeking the public's assistance and is asking anyone who witnessed the collision, observed either vehicle prior to the crash, or has dash camera footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact BC Highway Patrol in Kelowna at 250-491-5354.

 Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have observed the driving behaviour of either vehicle before the collision occurred. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police as soon as possible.
