Proactive enforcement leads to the recovery of thousands of dollars
More than $10,000 in jewelry and luxury items believed to have been stolen during a real estate open house has been recovered by Vancouver Police following a traffic stop Saturday night.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., officers stopped a rental Chevrolet SUV after observing it leave a residence that is known to police.
During the stop, a search of the SUV led officers to discover evidence connected to an unreported theft of jewelry and luxury items that happened during an open house earlier that day. Police also located evidence believed to be connected to other fraud and break-and-enter investigations.
“The recovered property and seized evidence are being examined by investigators,” said Sergeant Adam Donaldson of the Vancouver Police Department. “We are working to identify additional victims and determine whether the suspects are linked to other ongoing investigations.”
The two men were released pending further investigation. Charges have not yet been approved.
Anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a similar crime, or who has information that could assist investigators is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Department.
