Main suspect in Mad Sandhu murder case arrested
Punjab Police have arrested a key suspect in Mumbai in connection with the Oct. 3 fatal shooting of social media influencer and makeup artist Madhusudan "Mad" Sandhu in Amritsar.
The joint operation, conducted by Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad, led to the arrest of Jobanpreet Singh in the Chembur area of Mumbai. Police seized three pistols, five magazines, and 11 live cartridges during the operation.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations indicate Jobanpreet operated on instructions from foreign-based handlers. He is accused of providing weapons, financial support, and logistics to the shooters involved in the killing.
Police added that Jobanpreet confessed to involvement in three separate extortion-related shooting incidents in Punjab's Tarn Taran district.
Sandhu, an LGBTQ+ advocate with a prominent social media following, was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants at close range outside a car wash. The arrest brings the total number of suspects apprehended in connection with the murder case to nine as authorities continue working to dismantle the broader organized crime network.
