BC RCMP completes transition to Next Generation 9-1-1
The BC RCMP has successfully completed its transition to the digital emergency network, Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), after police dispatchers and call takers from the final two Operational Communications Centres (OCCs) in Coquitlam and Langley Detachments were migrated on November 3rd.
The federally mandated transition project from analog to the digital NG9-1-1 is being led by E-Comm 9-1-1 for the province of British Columbia. A phased approach was used to gradually move emergency dispatch centres in order to allow for ongoing assessment of and adjustments to the system, making each transition more efficient.
