Man charged for flight from police
A man faces new charges after a visit to the local detachment on an unrelated matter led to an arrest and seizure.
On May 15, shortly after 4:00 p.m., a man attended the Kamloops RCMP Detachment on an unrelated, non-criminal matter. The man was subsequently observed by police entering a white Honda CR-V with an alleged regulatory infraction, instigating a vehicle stop. However, the driver allegedly fled in the vehicle through a residential area, evading police. Out of concerns for public safety, police did not pursue the suspect further.
On May 17, the Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit located the CR-V near the suspect’s residence. The vehicle was determined to have been reported stolen in Kamloops on May 2. Additional investigation further established an alleged link between the suspect and the vehicle, culminating in his arrest.
During the arrest as well as the subsequent search of the vehicle, police seized keys to the stolen CR-V, a suppressor and other items.
Sean Kevin Goudie has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from police, possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of a prohibited device knowing it is unauthorized, and mischief in relation to the lawful use of property. Goudie was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 26.
