BC Highway Patrol takes the goodest boys and girls into custody

Five pets have now been reunited with their owners after a long journey that led them to the custody of BC Highway Patrol on Vancouver Island.

On May 26, just after 2:00 p.m., a BC Highway Patrol officer was patrolling Highway #1 (the Malahat Highway) near Goldstream Park when he saw the driver of a blue sedan giving him strange looks. The police officer checked the vehicle’s Ontario license plates and learned that the driver was wanted for a Canada-wide arrest warrant originating in Saskatchewan.

The blue sedan was stopped and the lone human occupant, a 36-year-old Ontario man, was arrested. When BC Highway Patrol contacted the Saskatchewan RCMP unit that requested the arrest warrant, they learned that the warrant was for theft of animals, and those animals matched the description of the two dogs and three cats that were found in the blue sedan.

The dogs and cats were transferred to the protective custody of the local animal control and then released without charges after promising to be good boys and girls. They have now completed the long journey to be returned to their rightful owners in Saskatchewan.
