A pedestrian struck by a cyclist in downtown Vancouver has died

One of the pedestrians struck by a cyclist in downtown Vancouver last month has died.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on June 29, a couple visiting from the United States was crossing West Cordova Street at Richards Street when they were struck by a cyclist travelling eastbound on Cordova Street.

The 72-year-old male pedestrian lost consciousness and was transported to Vancouver General Hospital for emergency surgery. The man’s wife suffered minor injuries and recovered.  The man died in hospital on July 5.

The cyclist was not injured and remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
