Charges approved following a street disorder incident in downtown Vancouver
A 19-year-old man is facing weapons charges after an incident in the Granville Entertainment District.
Shortly before 1:50 a.m. today, a shop employee intervened after observing a man knocking over tables and showing people a knife. The suspect then started stabbing the store sign so the employee walked away and called police.
Officers located a man matching the suspect’s description about two blocks away and took him into custody. Police also recovered a knife.
Noah Kawerninski, 19, has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
