Indian government may grant short parole for Jagtar Hawara

India's Union Home Ministry is contemplating granting a short parole to Jagtar SIngh Hawara- a key convict in former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh assassination  case-on human grounds, after his request by the state government for the same.

The Development came after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met the Governor once against to seek his intervention for releasing Hawara. 

Hawara is currently service a life term in Tihar jail in New Delhi. He had spent around 31 years in prison. 

Four days ago, the CM wrote to the governor requesting him to grant Hawara a 10-day parole so that he could meet his critically ill mother. 

As reported,  Punjab governor sought a medical report regarding her condition from the doctors present at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). 

During the meeting, Hawara's mother requested the doctors for the last time that she wanted to meet he son. 

When Mann, in his letter to the Punjab Governor, said that he will keep the state’s law and order intact if the parole is granted for 10 days, the Union Home Ministry is said to be considering a shorter time-frame.
