RCMP arrest two persons for vehicle theft in Slocan Lake
Two people were arrested and a stolen vehicle recovered following a police response in the Slocan Lake area on August 20.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., Slocan Lake RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle near the Mulvay Creek Bridge. A member of the public reported they believed the vehicle may have been connected to recent property crimes in the area and that police were looking for it.
Officers attended the area and, with assistance from Nelson RCMP , RCMP Air Services, and RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), located the suspect vehicle on a forest service road. The vehicle attempted to evade police but was safely stopped.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., two occupants were taken into custody without further incident. One male from Nakusp remains in cussody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
"This successful outcome was the result of coordinated efforts between frontline officers and specialized RCMP resources," says Corporal Brett Urano, BC RCMP spokesperson. "The quick response of officers helped bring this incident to a safe conclusion and recover a stolen vehicle."
Slocan Lake RCMP are thankful for the public's assistance in this matter and remind residents to report suspicious activity to police.
