An Indian national has died and 19 others have been rescued following an attack on the merchant vessel MV Cape Dao off the eastern coast of Oman.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly condemned the incident, calling the recurring attacks on commercial shipping in the region a source of "deep concern."

According to officials, the bulk carrier was en route to India when it was struck. While 19 Indian crew members were successfully rescued, one Indian seafarer succumbed to the attack.

The Indian Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation, coordinating directly with Omani authorities to ensure the safety of the surviving crew and to arrange for their swift repatriation. The government has also extended its deepest condolences to the grieving family of the victim.
