RCMP pursues second suspect involved in homicide in Surrey
IHIT investigators continued to pursue a second suspect believed to be involved in the homicide.
On December 1, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder against 22-year-old, Aman (also known as Aman Aman or Aman Ramesh).
“Following the approval of the charges, the team at IHIT was unrelenting in their efforts to advance the investigation and locate Aman,” says Sgt. Freda Fong. “As a result of those efforts, on February 9, an arrest warrant was granted for Mr. Aman, to face extradition for the offences.”
On April 24, 2026, IHIT investigators took custody of Aman from the U.S. Marshals Service and brought him to Canada to speak to the charges. Aman remains in custody, and his next court appearance is May 11, 2026.
“IHIT investigators are committed to pursuing every viable lead and will go the distance in doing so,” continues Sgt. Fong. “This case is an example our commitment to bringing all those responsible to justice on behalf of the victims, their families, and the community.”
As this matter is before the courts, no further information will be released.
On December 14, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) frontline officers were called to a residence in the 14700 block of 108A Avenue, Surrey.
IHIT investigators worked closely with the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), SPS, RCMP SPOSU and the BC Coroners Service to advance the investigation.
On April 15, 2025, 21-year-old Gurtaj Singh was arrested and subsequently charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
