Man arrested for gun point robberies in Abbotsford
Over the past month, Major Crime Unit detectives worked diligently to advance this investigation. On May 14th, detectives arrested a youth responsible for these robberies. A search warrant was executed at a residence associated with the youth, and the suspect vehicle was also located.
As this investigation involves a youth, no further information can be released. Public safety remains our highest priority. We remain committed to working proactively and collaboratively with our community to prevent crime, hold offenders accountable, and ensure Abbotsford continues to be a safe place for everyone.
The first incident was reported on April 14 , when AbbyPD patrol officers initiated an investigation into a street robbery that occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of Maclure Road and Trethewey Street. A second street robbery occurred on April 30 at approximately 8:09 p.m., along Discovery Trail near Abbotsford Exhibition Park.
In both incidents, a lone male suspect—described as South Asian, 17-20 years of age, approximately 5’9” with a slim build—produced a firearm and demanded the victims’ jewelry. Although shaken, the victims were not physically injured during either robbery.
