Punjab police inspector transferred after FBI accused him of helping gangster
Punjab police in India shifted an Inspector rank officer Gurinderjeet Singh Nagra from Tanda police station after his name cropped up in a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in alleged extortion ring which has its roots in Punjab.
Nagra was accused by the FBI for framing an NRI family allegedly on the instructions of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
After the news came in, Nagra was transferred to police lines and an inquiry was launched against him. Nagra, however, refuted the allegations.
It was alleged that Nagra helped Bhagwanpuria in threatening an NRI family for extorting 400,000 USD.
