AMBER Alert cancelled – child located safe

West Kelowna RCMP is updating the public that the AMBER Alert issued for a four-year-old boy has been cancelled after the child and his mother were safely located by police.

The AMBER Alert was issued shortly after midnight on July 22,  following a report of a parental abduction. Based on evidence obtained during the investigation, police determined that the criteria required to issue an AMBER Alert had been met.

Following the issuance of the province-wide AMBER Alert, police received multiple tips from members of the public. Information provided through those tips assisted investigators and ultimately led to the child being safely located in Vernon, B.C.

"We would like to thank the public, the media, and our policing partners for their assistance," said Constable Ash Puri of the West Kelowna RCMP .

"The public response to the AMBER Alert generated multiple tips that proved valuable to the investigation and ultimately helped lead to the safe recovery of the child. Everyone who shared information and remained vigilant played an important role in bringing this incident to a safe resolution."

The investigation remains ongoing and no additional details will be released at this time.
