Drivers travelling through the Fraser Valley are being advised to expect overnight traffic disruptions on Highway 1 and Highway 11 starting next week as construction progresses on widening Highway 1.

The traffic-pattern changes are required to allow crews to prepare for upcoming demolition work associated with the Highway 11 Interchange Project.

The ministry released the following schedule for upcoming overnight impacts:

Eastbound Highway 1 at Highway 11:

• The eastbound Highway 1 off-ramp to Highway 11 will be closed nightly from Monday, July 27 to Thursday, July 30, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
• The on-ramp to Highway 1 will remain open, and a detour route will be marked.

Westbound Highway 1 at Highway 11:

• The westbound Highway 11 on-ramp to Highway 1 will be closed nightly from Tuesday, Aug. 4 to Tuesday, Aug. 11, between 8:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m.
• On Friday and Saturday nights during this window, the on-ramp closure will run from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• The off-ramp to Highway 11 will remain open, with a detour provided.

Highway 11 under Highway 1:

• Highway 11 will be reduced to one lane in each direction nightly from Tuesday, Aug. 4 to Tuesday, Aug. 11, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
• On Friday and Saturday nights, the single-lane restriction will run from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The speed limit on Highway 11 will be reduced to 50 km/h in the work zone.

Officials note that because some tasks are weather dependent, the exact timing of closures may change. Drivers are urged to plan for extra travel time, expect additional lane reductions in the area as work moves forward, obey posted signs and traffic personnel, and watch for roadside crews.
