Political parties condemn attack on Sukhbir Badal, SAD demands probe
Political parties in Punjab condemn attack on Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal at Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded. SAD leaders demand CBI probe into the incident.
Political parties in Punjab have strongly condemned the attack on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal at Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, as SAD leaders demand a high-level inquiry into the matter. Party leaders Bikram Singh Majithia, Balwinder Singh Bhundar, and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema expressed concern that the attack is part of a larger conspiracy to undermine the SAD and called for an investigation by the High Court or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Majithia also noted that Sukhbir Singh Badal has recovered from the incident without sustaining any injuries.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders such as AAP media in-charge Baltej Pannu and Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring reacted to the incident by criticizing the attack on the religious site, while also highlighting the unrest among Sikhs over the 2015 sacrilege episode. On the other hand, former Akal Takht Jathedars Giani Raghbir Singh and Giani Harpreet Singh stated that although attacks within a gurdwara are not acceptable, the Badal family needs to address the public’s dissatisfaction.
