Thousands expected at Skaha Lake Park next week for Penticton Dragon Boat Festival

Skaha Lake Park will be especially busy from Sept. 12-13 as more than 2,000 athletes plus spectators arrive for the Penticton Dragon Boat Festival.

Penticton residents and boaters are reminded to expect increased traffic and congestion in and around the park. The boat launch and parking area will have very limited availability during the event. Boat trailer parking will also be limited during this time.

Boaters are encouraged to use launches in Kaleden, Okanagan Falls or those on Okanagan Lake. Details about local launches are available at penticton.ca/boat-launch.

The festival is open to the public and will feature more than 80 boats, food trucks, a vendors’ market and a beverage garden.

With limited on-site parking available, consider walking, using transit or riding bikes. The City’s Sustainability team will be providing a free bike valet service on both days at Skaha Lake Park, by the pavilion, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
