Committee accepting written submissions for Budget 2027 consultation
The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services is now accepting written submissions as part of its consultation on Budget 2027.
"The budget consultation gives people across British Columbia a meaningful opportunity to share what matters most to them," said Paul Choi, committee chair. "Written submissions are an important way for the committee to hear directly from British Columbians and to reflect their priorities in our recommendations for the upcoming provincial budget."
The annual consultation provides an opportunity for individuals and organizations to share their priorities for the next provincial budget.
"This consultation is an opportunity for people to share their ideas on how public dollars should be invested in their communities and throughout the province," said Donegal Wilson, deputy chair. "Whether you're an individual, part of an organization or representing a community, we want to hear your perspective."
People in British Columbia are invited to provide written submissions by Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. (Pacific time) through the Parliamentary Committees Consultation Portal.
Public hearings for those who registered in advance are being held beginning Monday, June 1, 2026.
All recommendations, whether submitted in writing or shared at a public hearing, carry equal weight and will be carefully reviewed by committee members.
The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services includes both government and opposition members of the legislative assembly and is tasked by the legislative assembly with conducting an annual public consultation on the provincial budget. The committee reviews public input and makes recommendations based on the submissions it receives. The Budget 2027 Consultation Paper, released by the minister of finance, is referred to the committee and outlines the Province's fiscal forecast and key budget issues.
