IHIT investigates Surrey homicide

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over conduct of a homicide investigation in Surrey following an incident in which one male has died.

At approximately 00:22 am on May 31, 2026, Surrey Police Service (SPS) Frontline officers responded to calls of a shooting in the area of 138 Street and 62 Avenue, Surrey. Upon arrival, SPS officers located one male in a vehicle that had hit a power pole, suffering from gun shot wounds and provided medical assistance until BCEHS arrived. Despite life saving efforts by police and BCEHS paramedics, the male was pronounced deceased on scene.

No arrests have been made and at this early stage there is no suspect information to share.

IHIT has now taken over the investigation and is being supported by SPS to complete priority investigative tasks.
