On July 14, a Vancouver Island man who was recently extradited to Canada from Germany, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison after entering a guilty plea on five criminal charges.

Isaac Oliveira Scott (29) of Victoria, pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, and three firearms related offences.

This four-year investigation dates back to December 2022, when the RCMP Federal Policing Pacific Region (FPPR) Drugs and Organized Crime (DOC) team initiated an investigation into an interprovincial dark web distribution network utilizing crypto currency to facilitate the sale and distribution of illegal drugs across Canada via Canada Post.

Oliveira Scott had been arrested in February 2024, after the execution of a search warrant at a Lower Mainland residence, and was released pending further investigation. He left Canada in May 2025 prior to charges being laid but was arrested by German authorities in February of this year, following a Canada-wide warrant and Interpol Red Notice. Oliveira Scott has been in Canadian law enforcement custody since April 1 when he was extradited back to Canada.

“FPPR investigators conducted a methodical & thorough investigation into these criminal offences. The evidence collected against Oliveira Scott was considerable, and the results speak for themselves,” said Federal Policing Media Relation Officer, Corporal James Bennett.
