Vancouver: BC health officials on Friday addressed a news conference to provide details about their vaccine program in the province. During the news conference, provincial health officer Dr Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrain Dix dwell upon province’s plan to provide booster doses against Covid 19.

Dr Bonnie Henry said the province is adopting the guidance issued by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization.

The province will offer booster doses to people at high risk of severe illness, including individuals older than 80, all seniors in long-term care homes, Indigenous people older than 70 and people 18 and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.

“In addition to high-risk individuals, people 60 and older, or Indigenous people 50 and older, who have not previously contracted COVID-19, can also consider receiving a spring booster dose,” Dr Henry said.

The health officials encouraged people to remain up to date with their doses against Covid 19.

Dr Henry said Covid-19 is not over yet and it is important to take precaution to stay safe from the virus. She said vaccines are the best way of defence against Covid 19.
