Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is on a visit to Germany to attract investments in the state. He held a meeting with company officials at the headquarters of German luxury car manufacturer BMW.

After this, Bhagwant Mann had claimed that BMW would make auto parts in Punjab. He claimed on Tuesday that BMW has given its consent to set up an auto parts manufacturing unit in Punjab.

However, on Wednesday, BMW denied Bhagwant Mann’s claim. In a statement, the company said it has no plans to set up a new plant in Punjab.

Earlier, Chief minister Bhagwant Mann said that leading auto giant BMW agreed to set up its auto part manufacturing unit in state.

Mann said that this will be the second unit of the company in India as already one such unit was operational in Chennai. He said that this will give a major boost to industrial growth of the state and open new vistas of employment for youth.
