Chandigarh: Amid the manhunt to nab Amritpal Singh, head of Waris Punjab De, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has began examining bank accounts, movement and links of Amritpal’s family including his NRI wife Kirandeep Kaur on Tuesday.

The NIA teams reached the Punjab on Tuesday morning and started investigating in different districts of the Punjab. A list of 500 close associates of Amritpal has also been prepared for investigation, officials said.

The investigation of intelligence agencies has also revealed that Amritpal was trained by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI to operate weapons in Georgia. He had gone to Georgia from Dubai before coming to Punjab. His preparation to form the Anandpur Khalsa Force (AKF) was also part of this training. He was given full training in Georgia to spoil the atmosphere of the country by disturbing Punjab, a news agency report said quoting NIA sources.

Sikh separatist organization Sikhs for Justice has threatened to attack Pragati 3 power plant in Bawana, Delhi, supporting Amritpal Singh. Gurpatwant Pannu, head of Sikhs for Justice, issued a statement urging Sikhs to launch a non-cooperation movement and shut down Delhi.

Meanwhile, after the arrest of all the supporters of Amritpal, they are being shifted to jails outside Punjab. So far, 116 people have been arrested.
