New Delhi: A clash broke out between wrestlers and police at Jantar Mantar demanding the arrest of the Wrestling Federation of India president in a sexual harassment case late on Thursday night. Two wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat’s brother, were injured during the clash.

The wrestlers claimed that some policemen, after consuming alcohol, manhandled and abused them. The police, however, denied the allegations.

Meanwhile, Punia has invited the farmers and their leaders to gather at the protest site on Thursday morning. Vinesh Phogat and other women wrestlers asked with a heavy heart, “Did they win medals for the country for this day?” ’’

According to the information, some other people, including Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti, reached the protest site late at night with a bed. During this time, when the police tried to stop them, there was an argument with the wrestlers sitting on the dharna. Wrestler Bajrang Punia said he was manhandled and beaten up by the police.

In a circular video on social media, some protesting wrestlers can be heard accusing police personnel of assaulting two wrestlers under the influence of drugs.

The drunk policeman Dharmendra misbehaved with the woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat and assaulted us. “They started beating us up. Bajrang Punia’s close relatives Dushyant and Rahul sustained head injuries. The police prevented the doctors from reaching the protest site. Even women constables misbehaved with us.”

Vinesh Phogat said, “The policemen misbehaved with me and pushed me. Where were the women police personnel?” asked Punia’s wife Sangeeta, who also claimed that she was manhandled by the police personnel. Addressing reporters at the protest site after the clash, Punia called upon the farmers and their leaders to gather at the protest site on Thursday morning and said, “The hooliganism of Delhi Police will not go away anymore.”
