Chandigarh: Cockroaches were found at a coffee outlet at Amritsar airport. A customer made a video of the entire outlet while buying coffee and made it viral on social media. The customer has also written to the Airport Authority of India for action.

Customer Sarvpreet Singh, who is going abroad, said, “I was flabbergasted to find the hygiene standards of international coffee brands at Amritsar airport. We hope for a better India next time.”

Surprisingly, even ordinary coffee is available at this outlet for Rs 180, but cockroaches are seen roaming around the crockery in which this expensive coffee is served.

The outlet is built inside the airport terminal and national-international passengers buy coffee and snacks from here.

Amritsar Airport Director VK Seth said that these outlets are given on contract by the Airport Authority, but in the MoU signed, cleanliness is kept on priority.

Investigation will be done on the basis of the video. If improvement is possible at the outlet, then it will be done by giving notice. Otherwise, the contract will be cancelled. The airport authority cannot compromise with cleanliness, he said.
