Chandigarh: A Ludhiana court on Monday stayed the theatrical release of Amar Singh Chamkila’s biopic ‘Chamkila’, starring Diljit Dosanjh.

The film’s director Imtiaz Ali and lead actors Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra have been asked to appear before the court during the next hearing on May 3.

Giving details of the case related to the release of the film ‘Chamkila’, Additional District Attorney Pooja Singal said that the petitioner had filed an application on March 21 and sought a ban over the release of the film.

The petitioner’s father Gurdev Singh Randhawa had entered into a written agreement under which he had paid Rs 5 lakh to get the rights to not make any film on Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur.

After the death of Gurdev Singh Randhawa, legal rights were given to his sons Ishdeep and Sanjot Randhawa.
