Chandigarh: Punjab is now emerging as the favorite study destination of foreign students, revealed the 11th report of the All India Survey on Higher Education.

According to this report for the year 2020-21, 3,551 male and 1,376 female students are studying in Punjab. It is 13.65 percent of the total number of foreign students studying in the country.

According to the report of the All India Survey on Higher Education, the total number of foreign students enrolled in higher education in the country is 48,035.

In Punjab, the number of foreign students is 3,551 male and 1,376 female. The highest number of foreign students is in Karnataka. The total number of students in Karnataka is 8, 137.

Every year, a survey is conducted by the Union Ministry of Education regarding foreign studies.

Students from about 10 countries, including Afghanistan, UAE, Bhutan, Sudan, Nepal, Nigeria, Tanzania and Yemen, come to India to take admission in higher education.

Studies in India are considered better and cheaper than the countries whose students come here to study. Therefore, there is a steady increase in foreign students. The number of students enrolled in private colleges is much more than government educational institutions, the survey revealed.
