British Columbia: The BC Wildfire Service has revealed that the Parker Lake fire, which poses a threat to Fort Nelson, has expanded to almost 130 square kilometers. Fortunately, the blaze has shifted away from the town’s southern perimeter, offering temporary relief to residents. Although cooler weather and increased humidity are expected to aid firefighting endeavors, authorities caution that light rain forecasted won’t be adequate to fully suppress the flames.

Mayor Rob Fraser, acknowledging the community’s close call last Friday when strong winds exacerbated fire risks, remains cautiously hopeful. He assures residents that ongoing efforts are in place to monitor the situation closely and ensure their safety.
