Ontario: Residents of Scarborough area have been evacuated on Monday afternoon following a gas leak after a collision of vehicle, police said.

Police said that there were complaints of gas leakage near Markham Road area on Rosebank Drive after a vehicle collided with a gas line on the fence.

Toronto police and fire services arrived at the scene at 2:00 p.m. as nearby buildings were evacuated by a gas leak. People evacuating these buildings were given shelter in a nearby daycare.

National Gas Company Enbridge said it could take a few hours to stop the gas leakage because they would have to reach the valve to turn off the gas.

There were no reports of any injuries due to the incident as all roads in the area were closed in time.
