The Federal Government is increasing the fines for travellers who skip the mandatory hotel quarantine rule.

Currently, the tickets with fines of up to $3,000 is issued for non-compliance of mandatory quarantine or isolation and from June 04, 2021 the fines on the ticket will increase to $5,000.

Some travellers have been choosing to pay $3,000 fine rather than quarantine in the hotel at a personal cost of up to $2,000. From Feb. 22 to May 7 the Public Health Agency of Canada says that 798 fines were issued. 606 in Ontario and 192 in British Columbia.
