On Wednesday India’s Supreme Court proposes setting up a mediation Committee having Government officials and the representatives of farmers’ unions to end a three-week protest by thousands of farmers.
Court sent notices to government and farmer representatives about the proposal and set Thursday for a possible decision.
“We will have members of the government, members from farmer organizations’ in it. This may soon become a national issue. We will have members from farmer organizations from rest of India also. You propose list of names of committee members,” said the Supreme Court bench.
