Chandigarh: Teams of the Income Tax Department raided various churches and other locations in Punjab of two renowned priests Harpreet Singh Deol (Khojhewal) and Bajinder Singh (Tajpur) on Tuesday. The raid has continued for the second consecutive day.

The teams of the Income Tax Department also raided the residences of Harpreet Singh Deol’s Khojhewal and Bajinder Singh in Tajpur and village Barodi besides the residence in New Chandigarh.

During this time, they took important documents related to properties, computers, pen drives, laptops and mobile phones from the churches. These priests have been accused of extorting money from people in the name of miraculously treating people.

According to the information, the teams of the IT Department started raiding the places related to the two priests around 6 am. Para-military forces personnel were also deployed during this time.

Similarly, Pastor Bajinder Singh has set up centres at several places including village Tajpur in Jalandhar, including village Baraudi, New Chandigarh and Amritsar. Both of them are Pentecostal priests and assure people of miraculous treatment.

Pastor Bajinder Singh has been embroiled in many controversies in the past as well. He converted to Christianity about a decade ago and later became a Christian preacher.

He was also implicated in a rape case in Zirakpur in July 2018. He was subsequently arrested from the airport. In September last year, a Delhi-based family had accused Bajinder Singh of duping him of Rs 50,000.
