Chandigarh: After the NRI Kirandeep Kaur, wife of Amritpal Singh was stopped at Amritsar airport by the authorities, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh on Friday condemned it adding that it is not right at any angle as she was headed to her parental home.
He said that it is beyond his understanding that when all the inquiries have been made from Kirandeep Kaur and her in-laws from their house, then why is she being stopped from going to England. Kirandeep Kaur is a British citizen and her visa is also going to expire soon.
Kirandeep Kaur, the NRI wife of Amritpal Singh, head of the pro-Khalistani ‘Waris Punjab De’ organisation, was stopped by immigration officials at the Amritsar airport on Thursday while she was on her way to London.
Kirandeep, a British national, was questioned for nearly three hours at the Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. After which she was turned back saying that she could not go to England as per government’s order.
Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that when no one has committed any crime, then how can she be stopped from going to her house, especially when she is a foreign citizen.
He questioned the government’s intension and said that why the government has not visited her in-laws house to question her till now in Amritpal Singh’s case. But it is very wrong to stop a foreign national from visiting to her house, especially when no FIR is registered against her.
