Chandigarh: Expressing serious concern over the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government’s ploy to postpone the winter session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Senior Congress Leader and Punjab’s Leader of Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday said that like the BJP government in the centre, the AAP government in Punjab is evidently trying to evade the genuine questions of the main opposition party, the Congress party.

Bajwa said that like its master in the centre government, which had been afraid of the success of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and then on the pretext of Covid Protocols the BJP wanted it to be suspended, the Punjab government led by AAP, which was known as a ‘B Team’ of BJP, was also scared to face the Congress party, which would raise the concerns and issues of the Punjabis in the Vidhan Sabha’s winter session, thus, the AAP had been making tactics to postpone the session.

“There are numerous issues on which the AAP government owes an explanation to the people of Punjab. The Vidhan Sabha sessions are the only legitimate way through which the government can be held accountable to the opposition, hence, the government cannot run away just like that”, LoP added.

Bajwa went on to say that as far as the Covid threat is concerned, the AAP government has failed terribly to prepare for this on the ground. Some districts of the state are facing an acute shortage of Covid vaccines including Covishield and Covaxin.

“Since the AAP government commenced its functioning, no fund has been granted for the development of the rural areas. The government hasn’t issued any new MGNREGA cards for the labourers. Besides this, the government has yet to launch its much-hyped scheme to provide Rs 1000 per month to women over the age of 18 years”, said LoP.

Qadian Legislator Bajwa said that the government remained inefficient address the issue of pollution allegedly caused by the liquor unit in the Zira. Industrialists are moving out of the state. Dalit labourers and employees have been protesting. Drug abuse and the law and order situation have been worsening under the AAP regime.
